Resolved - The suspension of the Sentral ↔ Canvas (Instructure) integration has now been lifted.

For NSW Department of Education schools, the Canvas integration has been reactivated, and student data syncing has resumed as normal. Schools should refer to NSW Department of Education communications for any further guidance or required actions.

For independent schools and other customers, it is now safe to re-enable the Canvas integration by following the same steps as previously provided:

Navigate to Sentral Setup
Select Integrations
Open Canvas → Configure
Check the Auto Sync checkbox
Save

As an additional precaution, all customers (including NSW Department of Education schools and independent schools) may choose to regenerate their Canvas API key if they deem it appropriate. If assistance is required, you should contact Canvas support for guidance on regenerating API credentials.

There is no further impact, and services are operating normally.

May 13, 16:01 AEST
Identified - We are aware of a data breach incident involving our third‑party integration partner, Instructure (Canvas).

In response, the NSW Department of Education has requested that all integrations between Sentral and Canvas be suspended until further notice. As a result, student data will no longer sync from Sentral to Canvas for the duration of this suspension.

There is no impact to Sentral core services. This suspension applies only to data synchronisation with Canvas.

Other customers who wish to proactively disable their Canvas integration can do so by following the steps below:

Navigate to Sentral Setup
Select Integrations
Open Canvas → Configure
Uncheck the Auto Sync checkbox
Save

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.

May 8, 12:10 AEST
Resolved - The mitigation implemented during the scheduled maintenance window has been completed successfully, and services are operating normally.

We have been closely monitoring the platform and have seen normal performance through this mornings traffic peak. Work on a permanent fix remains underway and will be deployed once final testing has been completed.

Thank you for your patience while we investigated and addressed this issue.

May 13, 12:02 AEST
Update - While we continue investigating the root cause and work toward a permanent resolution, a maintenance window has been scheduled for 12:00am to 3:00am tonight (13 May 2026). During this time, we will be increasing database capacity as a temporary mitigation to better handle system load.

Sentral sites will be unavailable during this window while the changes are applied.

This incident will remain open, and a further update will be provided tomorrow morning after the peak usage period to confirm whether the temporary mitigation has been effective.

May 12, 11:16 AEST
Update - We are still looking into the underlying cause of the issue. What we have identified so far is that an unusually high level of activity placed heavy demand on the system, which temporarily slowed its ability to respond as expected.
May 12, 10:20 AEST
Monitoring - System performance on AUPRD05 has stabilised. We are currently investigating the root cause of the issue and will provide a further update within the next 20 minutes with our findings.
May 12, 09:35 AEST
Investigating - We are currently investigating reports of system slowness on AUPRD05. This may impact your ability to login or navigate through Sentral. Our team is actively investigating and we will update you with more details as we have them.
May 12, 09:14 AEST
Completed - The scheduled maintenance has been completed.
May 13, 03:00 AEST
In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
May 13, 00:00 AEST
Scheduled - A maintenance window has been scheduled from 12:00am to 3:00am on 13th May 2026 to increase database capacity. This change is a temporary mitigation in response to the slowness experienced on AUPRD05 on the 12th of May while the long-term solution is finalised. During this window, Sentral sites will be offline.

May 8, 10:46 AEST
Monitoring - System performance on AUPRD04 has now stabilised. The exact root cause is still under investigation and our teams are continuing work to resolve the issue and prevent recurrence. We acknowledge the disruption this has caused to daily operations, particularly given the timing during the morning peak and roll marking.

Since the remediation actions implemented yesterday did not resolve the issue, a maintenance window is scheduled for 12:00am to 3:00am tonight (8th May 2026) to increase database capacity as a temporary mitigation and reduce the likelihood of further slowness while the long-term solution is finalised. During this window, Sentral sites will be offline while the change is performed.

This incident will remain open, with an update provided tomorrow morning following the traffic peak, to confirm the temporary mitigation has been successful.

May 7, 09:44 AEST
Identified - We have confirmed that the remediation actions implemented yesterday did not fully resolve the issue, and we are again seeing performance degradation this morning. Additional resources are being enabled immediately to improve platform stability. Our engineering team is actively working on next steps, and we will share another update shortly.
May 7, 09:14 AEST
Update - Two key remediation changes have been implemented to address today’s performance degradation. This incident will remain open while we monitor conditions closely overnight and through tomorrow morning to confirm stability and ensure the changes have been effective. Thank you for your patience.
May 6, 15:53 AEST
Monitoring - System performance has stabilised and we are continuing to monitor to ensure there is no further degradation. We will share another update shortly.
May 6, 09:43 AEST
Investigating - Our team is actively investigating reports of system slowness and an inability to access the platform. We will update you with more details as we have them.
May 6, 09:18 AEST
Completed - The scheduled maintenance has been completed.
May 8, 03:00 AEST
In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
May 8, 00:00 AEST
Scheduled - A maintenance window has been scheduled from 12:00am to 3:00am on 8th May 2026 to increase database capacity. This change is a temporary mitigation in response to the slowness experienced on AUPRD04 on the 6th and 7th of April 2026 while the long-term solution is finalised. During this window, Sentral sites will be offline.

May 4, 2026
Resolved - The platform has remained stable since the last status update, with no further degradation observed.
Additionally the root cause of the issue has been identified and are actively working on a permanent solution.

In the interim, to mitigate potential impacts, we will be implementing a temporary database capacity increase. This will require a maintenance outage for the Sentral application from 12:00am to 4:00am tonight.

Further updates will be provided as work progresses.

May 4, 11:46 AEST
Monitoring - Sites are online and operating, with a significant improvement in performance. While functionality has been restored, the service is currently operating in a sub‑optimal state as investigation continues into an identified issue.

The team is actively working to determine the root cause and fully stabilise the environment. A further update will be provided within 30 minutes.

May 4, 10:01 AEST
