Identified - We recently experienced an issue with our third-party SMS provider that caused messages sent between 2:40 PM on 25 June and 1:00 AM on 26 June (AEST) to become stuck and not be delivered. These messages remained in an “Awaiting Dispatch” state during the incident window.

All affected messages have now been aborted and will not be sent, and SMS services are currently operating as normal. At this stage, the provider has not supplied a confirmed root cause, and we are continuing to follow up for further details.

We have confirmed that schools were charged for SMS messages during this period despite the delivery failure. Credits will be applied to fully refund the impacted message expenditure.

Resolved - Microsoft has confirmed that the issue related to intermittent failures retrieving container images from Azure has been resolved.

Services have now stabilised, and performance across all hosting groups has returned to normal.

We will continue to monitor the environment to ensure ongoing stability, however no further impact is expected.

Monitoring - Microsoft has identified a potential underlying cause related to a recent update to a backend Azure service, which resulted in the intermittent 401 authentication errors when retrieving container images.

A mitigation has been implemented and services are showing signs of recovery.

Update - Microsoft has confirmed they are currently seeing a spike in authentication failures when retrieving container images from their registry service. They have made the following statement:

We are actively investigating customer alerts of 401 authentication errors when pulling images from mcr.microsoft.com. We’ve identified a potential underlying factor related to a recent update made to a backed service and we are actively working on determining mitigation workstreams. Their engineers are currently investigating and we are awaiting further updates from their support team.

Update - We are continuing to experience performance degradation on all hosting clusters. This is specifically related to intermittent failures in retrieving container images in Azure.

Currently, this is impacting the systems scalability and subsequently causing slowness and performance degradation.

Resolved - This has now been resolved. We reimplemented a fix that ensures incorrect errors were not surfaced during a sync.

Investigating - We are aware of an issue where some Edval users encounter an error when attempting to sync timetables with Sentral. This is the same as an error that occurred on 27/05/26.

Despite the error, the sync completes successfully.

Our team is actively working on a fix to prevent this error from appearing during the sync process. We will be applying the same fix as on 27/05.
